Air Conditioning Repair & Installation in Salt Lake City

Diagnosis first. Price before work. Serving Salt Lake City to Draper.

Why it matters here

AC Service Built for Salt Lake Summers

HVAC technician servicing an outdoor air conditioning condenser beside a house

Salt Lake City summers are hot, dry, and long. Afternoon highs regularly climb past 95 degrees in July and August, and a cooling system that limped through June can quit in the middle of a heat wave. Salt Lake City Air Conditioning repairs, replaces, and maintains residential cooling systems across the valley, from 1950s bungalows in Sugar House to newer two-story homes in South Jordan.

We start every visit with a diagnosis, not a sales pitch. A failed capacitor, a frozen coil, and a refrigerant leak can all look like the same problem from the thermostat, and they have very different fixes. We find the actual cause, show you what we found, and give you the repair price before any work begins. If replacement makes more sense, we will explain why in plain numbers and let you decide.

Services

Cooling Services for Salt Lake Valley Homes

We handle the full life of a home cooling system: emergency repairs, planned replacements, yearly tune-ups, and the upgrades that make sense in a high-desert climate, like heat pumps that also handle winter heat and ductless systems for older homes without ductwork.

The Salt Lake cooling year

When to Call, and What We Focus On

The valley's climate sets the calendar. Here is how a typical year looks for a home cooling system.

Mar – May

Tune-up season

Clean coils, test capacitors, and check refrigerant before the first hot week. Appointments are easiest to get now.

Jun – Aug

Peak repair season

Most failures happen during the first long heat wave. We prioritize no-cooling calls, homes with infants or older residents, and medical needs.

Sep – Oct

Replacement window

Milder weather makes it the best time to replace an aging system without rushing the decision.

Nov – Feb

Heat pump season

Heat pumps and dual-fuel systems keep working through inversion season. We service the heating side too.

How we work

Why Homeowners Call Salt Lake City Air Conditioning

Diagnosis Before Price

We test the system and find the failed part before quoting. You approve the price before we pick up a tool.

Repair-or-Replace Math

If your system is older than 12 to 15 years, we show you the repair cost next to a replacement estimate so the decision is yours.

Built for Dry Heat

Salt Lake's low humidity and high elevation change how systems should be sized and charged. We set them up for the valley, not a national average.

Clean Work Habits

Shoe covers inside, drop cloths at the air handler, and old equipment hauled away. We leave the work area cleaner than we found it.

Clear Scheduling

You get an arrival window and a call when the technician is on the way, not an all-day wait.

Both Seasons Covered

We service heat pumps and the heating side of dual-fuel systems, so one company knows your equipment year-round.

About us

A Valley Business, Not a Call Center

Read our story →

Our founder, Tyler Christensen, grew up in Taylorsville and spent his teenage summers helping an uncle service swamp coolers on rooftops around the west side. He moved into refrigerant systems after finishing an HVAC training program and spent more than a decade working for larger Salt Lake Valley contractors before starting his own company.

Salt Lake City Air Conditioning stays deliberately small. The person who answers the phone knows the technicians by name, and the technician who diagnoses your system is the one who explains the repair. We serve Salt Lake City, West Valley City, West Jordan, Sandy, South Jordan, Murray, Draper, and Millcreek.

Our service area covers the Salt Lake Valley from the Avenues down to Draper. Homes here vary a lot. Older east-bench houses often have small or missing duct runs, west-side neighborhoods have many original swamp coolers, and the newer south-valley subdivisions tend to have larger two-story layouts where the upstairs never quite cools down.

Each town page below covers what we see most often in that area. If your city is not listed, call anyway. We regularly help homeowners just outside these boundaries when the schedule allows.

Questions

What People Ask Us

See all questions →

Do you handle emergency AC repair in Salt Lake City?

Yes. During cooling season we answer repair calls seven days a week and prioritize homes with no cooling at all, especially where infants, older adults, or anyone with a medical condition lives. Call 5555555555 and describe what the system is doing.

How much does a typical AC repair cost?

Many common repairs, like a capacitor, contactor, or clogged condensate line, fall between about $150 and $600. Refrigerant leaks and compressor problems cost more. We quote the exact price after diagnosing the system and before starting work.

Is it worth repairing a 15-year-old air conditioner?

Sometimes. A small electrical repair on an older system can still make sense. A major repair, like a compressor or coil, on a system that uses R-22 refrigerant or is past 15 years usually does not. We show you both numbers so you can decide.

Can you replace my swamp cooler with central air?

Yes. Swamp cooler conversions are common in Salt Lake Valley homes built before the 1990s. Depending on the house, that can mean adding an outdoor unit to an existing furnace, installing a heat pump, or going ductless.
